How it all started...
Our church, like most things, has a story and like most stories it possesses similar parts but ours has one important difference. In 1820, a prayer meeting was held in Franklin County, TN. and from that meeting a decision was made to establish a church in the county's seat, Winchester.
The church began to grow and thrive in Winchester. We first worshipped in homes and the local courthouse until we built a log church building in 1827 on the corner of Jefferson and 3rd Ave. Our first brick building didn't come along for another 30 years when the church relocated to the corner of High St. and 2nd Ave NW. Our congregation was not immune to the effects of the national civil war and sustained damages from being occupied during that time but the church continued forward.
Our story is a mix of twists and turns, highs and lows but the constant theme which continues throughout is a people who have dedicated themselves to God, to one another and to this community to be the light of Christ to their best effort.

Expanding the vision...
The church's dedication had led us to step out in different ways over the years. We have been a place of worship, meeting space, hospital and more! We have been blessed with leaders who have helped us discover new ways to spread the good news and connect with our community through the development of multiple services, a preschool, food program for kids, ministry to senior adults, health fair or hosting things like church league volleyball, blood drives, the community Father/Daughter Dance or just being a place where people can walk in our facilities.
Where we are headed...
Remember earlier that our story had something different from other stories? The difference is our story hasn't stopped being written. Each and every Sunday we remind our church that we hope that they know God, love God and show God so that others may come to know God as well. As we say this each week we leave with endless possibilities of how we might know God better, how we might love God more fully and show God in traditional and unexpected ways. We believe that if we do these things not only will we grow more into the community God would have us to be but that others will join us as we write this story together.
Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together a 8:30 am, 9:00 am and 11 am.
